YOUTH HAVEN....COME ON IN!
THE BACKGROUND
I was born on small island in the Western Pacific called, Nukuoro. Life on this island is very peaceful and simple. No electricity,no cars, no fast lanes, everybody lives off the land and fishing. I attended the elementary school on this island. After school I remember going with my friends to the nearby islands and fishing and shelling. There were so much fun trying to climb pandanum or coconut trees to catch birds.

MSA (Micronesian Student Association)

This an organization that was organized in 1992 immediately following Tyhoon Omar which mercilessly hit Guam and left the community so devastated. The purpose of the Organization was twofold: Firstly, to serve as support unit to new Micronesian students enrolling at Guam Community College. Secondly, the Guam Community College Micronesian Students realized that their Micronesian Community has a lot of people that did not know where they can receive services they're entitled to.

Habitat for Humanity, International
Involving yourself in volunteer works is a very rewarding experience! My first involvement with volunteer work was when I was in College. I used to work with physically disadvantage High School students in Topeka, Kansas. That experience kept me involve on small scale with the Red Cross and other charity organizations. Two years ago, I had the priviliege of joining Habitat International through the Guam Chapter. It gave me a wonderful opportunity not only do discuss with housing issues but the spiritual interactions, and social issues became a very dynamic part of my work not only as a board of director, but a personal involvement in the community and families.

COMMUNITY INTERESTS AND INVOLVEMENT
PUBLIC FORUM FOR YOUTH DISCUSSION
Since I was a teen, became intereted in interacting with youth. This interest has been with me throughout my College years. I have worked with teens thru in the community for the last 20 years of my life. I haved become quite concerned about issues in society young people are confronted with - from the lost self identity to the complexity of relationship and the adversed impacts of ellicit drugs on their lives. The Forum intends to allow young people to share their pains and look for solutions as a global community.

Today, the agony of pain and social disoreiented have become part of many teans lives. They needed love but were often given the opposite. Many have given up and turned to drugs and alcohol to medicate their pains. Teens go through tremendous difficulty of sorting things out in their minds of choices in life they need to adapt themselves into. With the emotional, physical, social, and psychological changes affecting their body so rapidly, making right choices and decision are not always easy. On top of all these, the pressure some teens encounter within and out outside of the home, such as divorce, violences, and abuses...paint a very gloomy picture of an uncertainty furture for them.
